- Relying too much on previous years patterns
Relying on data is right; however, usually, when a client looks at information, it is often one dimensional. They usually only look at previous year ranks and cut-offs and plan for counselling accordingly. However, many other factors influence cut-offs and decide who finally gets the seat. Looking at past years, data alone can give them a false sense of confidence, which can lead to grave mistakes.
- Taking Emotional Decisions
It’s not uncommon for students who are friends to fill forms for the same colleges. Especially when their scores are identical. But we know how much difference a single mark can make in deciding whether you will get admission in a particular college or not. The filling of the form should be treated as a rational based process and not an emotional one.
- Getting wrong advice
Free advice is everywhere. Especially from people who are indirectly related to NEET, like coaching centres, tuition teachers are asked for their opinion. While we do not dispute their calibre in their own domain. However, their advice is mostly based on intuition and not facts, and we all know intuition can be wrong many a time.
